Its amazing when that card falls on ones mat with the huge black capital letters"POLLINGCARD" We are disappointed in receiving like we would a leaflet on piles or going bald. Saying out aloud "Ohhhh God already! not again!. .". The lack of enthusiasm from us is unbelievably F L A T.
Looking back in history what people did to get us Our vote ie Emily Pankhurst we all know of her efforts etc, and yet how much do we really appreciate using THAT/our vote today. As far back in our history books there has been the one Police Officer outside....just in case. Case of what? We have always laughed thinking what a waste of tax payer money the poor ole' copper having to stand there all day twiddling his thumbs.
Going to the Polling stations and vote has never been regarded as an exciting event or high light of ones day. But never the less still has to be done, get out of the way. Like a bad tasting cough medicine. . . Its a pop in, (mark your card)pop out. No cues, waiting around or being held for some reason or other. Polling stations are setup and held in schools, rather than government buildings giving the school kids a day off as a national holiday.
Over the years the rate of voters is dropping considerably. Some voters just don't feel that it matters if THE VOTE counts anymore. Some voters (16 year olds especially) do not see it as COOL to be seen at a Polling station...voting Or Don't bother simply because they feel that their view is not taken serious enough by the politicians because of their age. The last group of voters...just have no idea of POLITICS what so ever.
In all there is a considerable relaxed approach to voting when the time comes for the elections that take place for what ever reason weather Regional or national. There is no pressure of intimidation what so ever to vote for, what ever party for, what ever reason. The only intimadation felt when we are sitting down having our Evening Tea after a hard days work. The bell rings or the door knocks and there is a politician campagning at the door.Look at Zimbabwe and other countries what they go through. . .

Yooohooo! Nice new blog Chazza.
I don't have much faith in politics (or understand it)!
Same feelin I have nowadays. .stopped voting/never vote ever again. Since a hospital infection caused my Mums death. . . x x
Sorry to hear about your mum Chazza. It might have been a different story if hospitals stopped cutting corners and brought matrons back. xx
Thank you for your kind words. It was a real shock to us, considering she went in for such a minor ailment. We are still very raw at what caused her death, bitter and angry.
I totally agree with you, Mum always believed and said the same of Matrons.
The one thing my mum always said whilst I was growing up was "you can rely/trust/run to...is Hospitals, Police and Priests".
It must have been awful knowing it was down to carelessness :-( It doesn't give you much faith in them.
Ohh God Yes. Now I am very protective over my Dad where this is concerned.. x x
